In 2026, the team of the “Monument Art” graffiti festival continued to promote street art in Perm. During this season, three new murals were created, and the restoration of Alexander Zhunyov’s iconic work “Whale Fish” was completed.
One of the main works of the season was the large-scale composition “Chronicles of the Kama Region: From Origins to Innovations” on the industrial premises fence created by Lina Erok. 168 concrete panels were painted, combining the ideas of the region’s continuous journey from its natural origins to modern technologies. The main connecting element was the Kama River, along which the history of the Kama region unfolds: from the Permian animal style to the development of energy and space technologies. The composition includes the slogans “The Perm Region — a cornerstone of the nation” and “The Perm Region — everything is possible: from subsoil to space”. The work is dedicated to the Year of Perm Industry and links the region’s industrial history with its modern development.
Two more murals appeared on city facades. Lyubov Tyulkina created a work at No110 in Pushkina Street. The composition unites images of Perm industry and folk traditions: a wooden airplane soars upward, and on it sits a girl in a carved kokoshnik on her head. The sketch features the historical symbol of the Perm Region — the Obvinsk rose. The work reflects the synthesis of aircraft construction and cultural heritage, symbolizing the aspiration to reach new heights and foster development.
On Geroyev Khasana Street, 21, a mural by Dmitry Yablonsky appeared. Executed in an academic style, the work depicts a child putting together a puzzle in the shape of Russia’s map. The idea was to symbolize the unity of the country and friendship among peoples, emphasizing that respect for cultural diversity is instilled from one’s childhood. The work is dedicated to the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.
This year, the “Monument Art” team also participated in the restoration of Alexander Zhunyov’s mural “The Whale Fish”, one of the most recognizable pieces of Perm street art.
Participants of the final event of the “Monument Art” graffiti festival discussed trends in the development of local brands with Perm artist and designer Igor Goryachev. Further, the representatives of the street art community learnt about the creation of merchandise for the Perm embankment by the Perm Directorate for Organizing City Cultural and Mass Events. The collection will be based on the main images of the embankment and the Kama River: the history of navigation, ships, and the legendary “Rocket” hydrofoils, and, of course, evening Perm with its famous sunsets over the Kama.
